Male vs. Female Plastic Surgery

Historically, more women than men have undergone plastic surgery treatments. From nose jobs to breast implants, plastic surgery has often been viewed as a women’s issue, when in fact, a lot of men undergo cosmetic surgery treatments. Men are becoming increasingly concerned about their appearance, and as a result are going under the knife.

The procedures themselves may vary between the sexes. For example, men will require larger doses of Botox than women, solely based on the fact that their muscles are generally larger. When it comes to rhinoplasty, the desired outcomes differ, as men often want to achieve a stronger, more masculine shape, whereas women opt for a smaller, more balanced nose. In fact, many plastic surgery procedures, particularly on the face, differ between men and women in that men opt for more chiselled, angular looks while women opt for softer, fuller looks that give a more youthful appearance.

The most popular procedures for men are liposuction, breast reduction, eye lift surgery, tummy tucks and face lifts. For women, it’s breast augmentation, liposuction, breast lift, tummy tuck and eyelid surgery. While injectables like Botox are still viewed as more of a female issue, more and more men are using them, and the topic of male plastic surgery is no longer taboo.
